The Role

After completing one certification course (a Specialty Program or a Core Certification), you can decide to join the Six Seconds Community of Practice and become a Network Leader.

Purpose: Engage & support general public to practice EQ through EQ Café events and other Six Seconds’ programs & tools as part of building the worldwide network (read about all the different roles at Six Seconds HERE)

Client: Members of the public who want to develop their emotional intelligence

Refers to: Regional Network Director (RND)

Type: Volunteer / Independent

Title: ___(city) EQ Network Leader

Qualifications: Active Certified  Member; alignment with Six Seconds’ vision & philosophy

Duration: One year, renewable on mutual agreement.

Responsibilities:

The Network Leader (NL) works to develop and support a network of members in a city/metro area as part of Six Seconds’ nonprofit mission of increasing insight, connection, and purpose -- by engaging people to practice together through EQ Café events.

Following from the free Cafés, NLs may choose to offer participants more in-depth ways to engage and grow their EQ for a small fee. Six Seconds will provide these specialized offerings to Network Leaders starting in February, 2019.  There will be short programs that NLs can qualify to run, as well as Six Seconds’ “micro courses” and products that NLs can refer their participants to. As with Cafés, these will be designed for the general public.

Note: The volunteer NL role is designed to focus on the general public as a B2C (business to consumer) offer. NLs may not use Cafés inside a business / for closed groups. If you want to partner with Six Seconds to work with a business to business (B2B) focus serving organisations and institutions, contact your Regional Network Director and discuss the opportunity to become a Preferred Partner.

Logistics

To make this happen, Six Seconds will provide materials every quarter for the Network Leader to hold at least three events per year (either the current quarterly Cafés and/or the annual POP-UP Festival for Children’s Day). Six Seconds provides the content (slides, facilitator notes, invite) and posts the events on its sites. The NL invites people locally and holds the event (free of charge, but fees or donations may be collected to offset actual costs, such as venue rental). The EQ Cafés are interactive workshops to experience EQ -- focused on the larger community and building a more emotionally intelligent world.

Registration to Cafes is handled via Six Seconds’ process online. If registration is not done via Six Seconds’ process, then NL will get permission from participants (on registration) to share the data with Six Seconds and will report attendance to each Cafe to Six Seconds, including names+emails of participants.

Additional Commitments

Network Leaders are part of building and sustaining a global movement for a more emotionally intelligent world. NL responsibilities in this include:

  • Joining each of the quarterly NL web meetings to support / strengthen your EQ practice. On the calls you will review the Cafe plan and to engage and support other NLs and get support for this work.
  • As needed, interacting in the Network Leaders facebook group (this group is for Q&A about Cafes and discussing “privately” with fellow Network Leaders. Before asking the RND or staff with questions, if applicable, please post to private FB group).
  • At least monthly, posting or commenting on the EQ Network Facebook group or Six Seconds’ other social media channels to share with the broader community (eg, Twitter, LinkedIN, Insta).

Compensation & Benefits

  • The NL is a volunteer role; NLs are not employees and NLs are responsible for any taxes due from commissions or other revenues they receive.
  • NLs can earn revenue from Six Seconds by referring people to cert courses (commission is 10% of registration).  Starting in 2019, NLs will be able to earn revenues from referring people to Six Seconds’ online store using a special link; referral commissions will vary and will be explained through the online system.
  • Expenses related to the NL activities will be reimbursable only if there is a pre-agreement with a Six Seconds’ Director or executive.
  • As a Network Leader you receive ACE units for holding Cafés, read more HERE

Positioning & Conflict of Interest

  • In this role, the Network Leader is focused on bringing EQ to the general public (B2C).
  • The RND can approve more than one NL for the same town. In this case NLs may decide to collaborate and host EQ cafes together, or work independently but maintain communication to avoid having the same Café within a 2-week period in the same town/city.
  • The work as NL is part of Six Seconds nonprofit mission, working to build a community of people committed to practicing emotional intelligence. Many NLs are, in addition to their volunteer work, developing their business as EQ Practitioners. In this capacity, the NL role can help create authority and outreach, but the primary purpose of being an NL is to bring EQ to the general public.

Guidelines for Network Leaders

Translation

Network Leaders who want to translate the Slides and accompanying Cafe Materials will follow this process:

  • Translate the materials into your language of choice
  • Share your translation with another person to cross check the translation
  • Send to Six Seconds for our Cafes folder, enabling us to share with others who may wish to use same

A slide will give credit to the translator, the checker, and give date for acceptance into the Six Seconds library.

Agreement

While working in this role, the Network Leader agrees to follow Six Seconds' policies and Guidelines & Standards for employees, contractors, and volunteers, including protecting confidentiality and modeling Six Seconds' values and principles.
